Our client provides property management services for a variety of clients, overseeing compliance with lease terms, health and safety standards, and service charge collection What You Can Expect Location – West Essex (Hybrid) Salary – Up to £45,000 Work Type – Permanent The Accountant is responsible for preparing service charge accounts, resolving queries, preparing data for external accountants, and analysing handover information. Main Responsibilities as an Accountant Preparation of client service charge accounts within deadlines and in compliance with industry regulations. Preparation of client reports within service-level agreements. Filing statutory returns with Companies House. Resolving queries efficiently. Preparing accounting data for external accountants. Analysing handover information to ensure accuracy and completeness. Responsibilities & Duties This is a varied role covering all aspects of service charge accounting, including: Reviewing and processing expenditure movements between cost centres Processing prepayments and accruals at service charge year-end reconciliation. Auditing income to ensure leaseholders have been charged correctly. Preparing service charge calculations, including balance sheet reconciliations and detailed analysis of P&L accounts. Posting year-end deficits/surpluses and issuing demands. Issuing Section 20b notices as required. Ensuring accuracy of information provided by external agents, with proper recording in the data system. Maintaining an organised and accurate filing system for financial data. Preparing monthly or quarterly reporting. Responding to financial and administrative inquiries. Processing property standing information in the company’s database. Preparing financial information for sales and acquisitions of properties. Building and maintaining relationships with key clients and external accountants. Preparing service charge accounts and reports for complex or key client sites. Collaborating with other business departments to maintain excellent communication. Core Experience, Skills, and Qualifications Essential: Knowledge of residential property management and service charge account preparation. Relevant experience in service charge accounting and understanding of industry changes. Experience with property management systems such as QUBE, YARDI, MRI, TRAMPS, or similar. Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Self-motivated and proactive thinker. Team player with the ability to multitask and work under pressure. Desired: Experience preparing residential service charge accounts. Ability to analyse complex data and deliver reports to various audiences. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, AAT) is advantageous. Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and vlookup. Adaptability to new IT systems and processes.
