Mersey Care is a research active NHS Trust and this role sits in the Research and Innovation team. The post holder will support the Senior Communications Manager (Mental Health Research) and Research & Effectiveness Lead to develop and implement an integrated series of internal and external communications for the Trust's extensive roll out and implementation of Count Me In.
Count Me In is a new campaign, which will support colleagues and service users across Mersey Care to get involved in research activities with the aim of improving mental healthcare and treatments. This will support the pioneering work of the Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC), which is a partnership between Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Liverpool (www.mric.uk).
Main duties of the job
1. Plan, develop and manage the production of internal & external communications and marketing materials that are accessible.
2. Support multi-level engagement with all Mersey Care communities. Promote local recognition & support for Count Me In through effective communication of key messages, aims & achievements to different audiences.
3. Contribute to the design & maintenance of the CMI web pages as the Project's main source of information, to ensure it is up to date and attractive to a wide range of stakeholders.
4. Write communication materials for Mersey Care's service users & stakeholders, including health & social care professionals, local authorities, think tanks etc., (e.g., emails/letters/presentations).
5. Draft press releases, quotes, letters to editors & other articles for publication to the full range of media outlets, including national, local & regional TV, radio, print and digital.
6. Produce regular evaluation reports for Count Me In detailing both outputs and outcomes of communications and marketing activities.
7. Research and contribute to the Trust's intranet, internal newsletter and magazine and other internal communications material for colleagues.
8. Respond quickly, accurately & positively to colleague & service user enquiries, monitoring calls, developing feedback mechanisms & reporting back to the Senior Communications Manager with suggestions & opportunities on how these may be addressed.

Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of working in a busy environment.
* Experience of working in a role within the NHS or the third sector.
* A demonstrated knowledge of Equality and Human Rights.
* Sound knowledge of the NHS and/or public sector.
* Working knowledge of communications.
* Excellent verbal communications skills and ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels.
* Excellent written skills for statements, briefings and corporate documents.
* Good IT skills including MS office; knowledge of design packages.

Qualifications
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience (minimum of 3 years' experience in communications or marketing role).
* Relevant Degree in Marketing or Communications.
