We are looking to recruit an IT Operations Manager for Liverpool University Hospitals and Liverpool Women's Hospitals.
This is a key role in enabling effective management of the complex IT estate and in identifying and planning future requirements.
The successful candidate will have substantial NHS management experience, including direct line management covering Desktop, Technical Support and Network Services, substantial experience in the delivery of complex technical solutions in a specialist IT environment and sound knowledge of IM& T.
The post holder will be required to participate in an out of hours on-call rota, working autonomously to resolve all IT incidents critical to the Trust functioning out of normal working hours. This may involve visits to all areas where IT is used, which includes but not limited to, patient areas such as wards, labs, theatres and AED.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management, strategic development, operation and maintenance of the hospital site support functions including Desktop Support, and the Service Desk support team.
The IT Operations Manager is responsible for comprehensive resource management of staff across the teams and ongoing projects, ensuring that the infrastructure remains accessible and secure at all times.
A key responsibility is to forge effective collaborative and partnership working with service users, driving service improvement programmes of work with the Digital Teams and regularly communicating with the service users.
Job responsibilities
To be the main point of contact for escalation of IT issues from Trust colleagues and be the conduit between the Trust staff and the Digital Services teams.
To deliver continuous service improvement in all areas of the service to ensure we learn from mistakes and improve the service delivered to end users.
Influence, develop and implement digital technology plans in order to achieve the key business objectives.
Ensure that robust capacity planning procedures are in place to ensure the future resilience of operational services.
Prepare strategic papers detailing growth projections recognising investment points and options.
Providing technical advice and guidance to management and users. Provides verbal and written technical and non-technical reports to senior managers, project staff, specialists, other managers and users on aspects of system status.
Ensures all requests from users for service support and system changes are handled promptly and effectively and is proactive to ensure that users make effective use of the facilities available to them.

Qualifications
Essential
* Relevant first degree or equivalent experience
* Relevant Masters or other higher degree or equivalent experience
* ITIL Service Desk, Incident and Problem Management Qualification - Red Badge (or equivalent)
Desirable
* Formal project management qualification (PRINCE2 or MSP Practitioner)
* Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
Experience
Essential
* Substantial relevant NHS management experience - minimum of 5 years direct line management covering Desktop, Technical Support and Network Services
* Sound knowledge of IM& T including a substantial period in a senior management IM& T position with experience in implementation and change management
* Substantial experience in the delivery of complex technical solutions in a specialist IT environment
* Experience of supporting and monitoring major IM& T systems and development in the NHS, especially in the transfer of services
* In-depth knowledge of IM& T systems and procedures acquired through a combination of specialist training and relevant study to masters degree or equivalent level
* Experience of successful collaborative and partnership working and ability to encourage others likewise
* Understanding of NHS financial management principles
* Thorough understanding of risk management, business continuity management, procurement, corporate governance and corporate performance reporting principles
* Experience of being responsible for Financial and physical assets, holding and managing budgets, acting as a signatory and authorising purchase of IM& T equipment
