An excellent opportunity exists for a qualified Motor Vehicle Technician based at our Harborough Road, Northampton (soon to be moved to Scotia Close Northampton) workshop. The role involves maintaining a range of front-line Ambulance vehicles, Fast Response cars, and support vehicles operated by the trust.
You should have an appropriate qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering NVQ level 3.
A C1 Driving Licence would be preferred but not essential as training towards this would be given if required.
The successful candidate will be working within a small but very busy workshop with 3 experienced Ambulance Vehicle Technicians.
Main Duties of the Job
To carry out the duties of a skilled Vehicle Motor Mechanic to the standards, policies, and procedures of the trust and to the satisfaction of the Head and Assistant Head of Fleet services. The role may require some movement between sites and flexibility of work hours.
Job Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
1. Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles operated by the Trust and, where applicable, third-party owned vehicles.
2. Carry out effective overhaul, repair, and servicing of the vehicles in a safe, economical, and timely manner employing skills and knowledge as required.
3. Carry out effective repair and service of specialist equipment used on ambulance vehicles within the skill and training given.
4. Test and diagnose faults on vehicles with the aid of diagnostic equipment available. If suitably qualified, undertake the testing of vehicles within an MOT registered Test Station to the required standards and document these tests.
5. Note and report additional work arising to the Team Leader for decision on the scope of repairs to be undertaken.
6. Complete all relevant documentation to work undertaken and use the Vehicle Maintenance system appropriately as per guidance given.
7. Attend damaged or defected vehicles to effect repairs or liaise with VRC to arrange recovery to the trust workshops, observing appropriate safety and traffic regulations at all times.
8. Observe safe working practices and Health and Safety regulations as applicable to the workplace.
9. Attend required training and development courses arranged by the Trust.
10. Keep individual knowledge of industry developments and be up to date on products and technology.
11. Maintain records of work and attendance as required by Trust systems.
