The Health Board is looking for a Qualified Optometrist to take on the role of Independent Optometry Advisor. This is a pan-BCU role. Main duties of the job The Independent Optometry Advisor is professionally accountable for all Wales General Ophthalmic Services (WGOS) (sight tests and eye health) delivered, across the local health board area. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Welsh Government and with health board senior managers and clinicians to achieve agreed outcomes including implementing the future approach to optometry and contracting reform. There will be no expectation for the Independent Adviser to provide clinical services: administrative duties requiring clinical knowledge and judgement will be required. Primarily the role is one of clinical advice and leadership.
