I currently work with a 2-form entry Primary School based in Aston who are looking for a School Caretaker to join their team. The school is committed to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all pupils and staff. Maintaining the school's premises is essential to creating a positive and inspiring atmosphere for learning. Now seeking a dedicated and hardworking Caretaker to join their team and play a key role in ensuring that the school is well-maintained and operational.
Role Overview:
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for ensuring the school site is clean, secure, and well-maintained. You will support the smooth running of the school on a daily basis, contributing to the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff, students, and visitors.
Shift Pattern:
This role operates on a split shift basis:
* Morning Shift: 6:30 AM - 11:00 AM
* Afternoon Shift: 3:15 PM - 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
* Regular cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including classrooms, offices, corridors, and outdoor spaces.
* Routine checks and minor repairs, including lighting, plumbing, and furniture maintenance.
* Opening and closing the school, ensuring security at all times.
* Setting up for school events, assemblies, and meetings.
* Liaising with external contractors and suppliers when required.
* Ensuring health and safety regulations are adhered to across the school premises.
* General porterage tasks such as moving furniture and delivering supplies.
* Responding to emergency maintenance issues as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable.
* Ability to undertake general maintenance and repair work.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety practices.
* A proactive and hands-on approach with a problem-solving mindset.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* A flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience in working in a school or similar environment.
* A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required before employment.
