Job Summary:
The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources within the charity. This role requires a HR generalist who can effectively manage safer recruitment, learning and development, employee relations, wellbeing, and HR policies and procedures. The HR Manager is dedicated to enhancing the colleague experience and fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Onboarding:
Manage the entire safer recruitment process, including job advertisements, vetting, DBS checks, and onboarding. Ensure compliance with safer recruitment practices and employment legislation. Maintain the Single Central Record for staff in accordance with Ofsted requirements. Review and enhance the induction and onboarding programme for new staff.
2. Staff Management:
Provide expert advice and guidance to line managers and staff on HR policies and procedures. Develop and implement training programmes for line managers to ensure consistent knowledge and application of HR practices. Coordinate the performance appraisal process. Manage HR documentation, including contracts, variation letters, and flexible working requests.
3. Culture and Employee Wellbeing:
Promote a positive organisational culture to nurture the best employee experience. Manage the staff survey process and respond to feedback. Collaborate with line managers to improve staff motivation, health, and wellbeing.
4. Policies and Procedures:
Oversee the implementation and continuous development of HR policies and procedures. Propose amendments to existing policies and suggest new policies as needed. Ensure compliance with all relevant HR legislation.
5. HR Systems and Payroll:
Optimize the use of the charity’s HR database (BreatheHR) for data entry and reporting. Provide data for monthly payroll processing. Line manage and motivate the HR team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience in HR management, preferably within the education or charity sector. Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Proficiency in HR systems and databases.
