We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to young people aged 16-18 living in supported accommodation. This role is crucial in helping young people build independence, resilience, and life skills as they transition into adulthood, all while ensuring the safety and welfare of the individuals in line with the Ofsted framework. The successful candidate will promote a positive, nurturing environment and offer tailored support in line with the needs and aspirations of each young person. Key Responsibilities: Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Maintain a safe and supportive environment for young people, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. Follow safeguarding procedures in accordance with Ofsted guidelines, ensuring any concerns are promptly reported and addressed. Promote the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of young people while maintaining professional boundaries. Ensure compliance with relevant child protection policies and legislation. Support Planning & Key Working: Work with each young person to develop and review personalised support plans based on their individual needs, goals, and risk assessments. Provide 1:1 support and key working sessions to discuss progress, address challenges, and offer guidance on education, employment, and personal development. Assist young people in developing practical skills for independent living, including budgeting, cooking, self-care, and maintaining accommodation. Education, Training, and Employment: Support young people in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities, encouraging personal growth and positive outcomes. Help with the completion of applications, CV writing, job searches, and preparation for interviews. Liaise with education providers and other agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to meeting the needs of the young person. Health & Emotional Well-being: Support young people in accessing health services, including GP, mental health support, substance misuse services, and counselling. Promote emotional well-being and help young people develop positive coping mechanisms. Provide support for any mental health concerns, escalating to professionals where necessary. Housing & Practical Support: Assist young people in managing their tenancy or license agreement, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and maintain their accommodation. Help resolve any housing-related issues, such as benefits applications, addressing arrears, or supporting tenancy sustainment. Work with external agencies (e.g., housing, benefits) to ensure young people have access to essential services. Partnership Working: Liaise with local authorities, social workers, education providers, and other agencies to provide a multi-agency approach to care. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, reviews, and case conferences in line with Ofsted’s requirements. Ensure all necessary reports, records, and documentation are completed accurately and maintained in compliance with Ofsted's standards. Ofsted Compliance & Standards: Deliver services in line with the Ofsted framework and relevant legislation to meet the quality standards for care, safety, and outcomes for young people. Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance processes to ensure the service remains compliant with Ofsted’s regulatory standards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service by providing feedback and being involved in quality assurance initiatives. Development & Training: Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant training to stay updated on best practices in working with young people. Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and appraisals to reflect on practice and improve service delivery. Person Specification: Essential: No restriction to work in UK (unrestricted work rights) Clean DBS Experience working with young people aged 16-18 in a residential, supported accommodation, or similar setting. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation. Understanding of the Ofsted framework for supported accommodation services. Ability to build positive relationships with young people and support their individual needs. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Empathy, resilience, and a non-judgmental attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in the on-call rota if required. Desirable: A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care, Youth Work, or equivalent. Experience in key working, support planning, and risk assessments.
