Job overview
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
The successful applicant will be based at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford; however, as with all MSE appointments, consultants will be required to work at any of our spoke sites or in outlying clinics to provide a service to over 1.6 million people.
Applications are invited from accredited specialists in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery who are on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining the CCT or equivalent at interview stage.
Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold an appropriate higher surgical qualification and preferably should also be fully registered with the General Dental Council.
Main duties of the job
The OMFS service provides a 3 tier out of hours service with the consultant off-site out of hours as 3rd on-call. The service is supported by middle-grade & junior doctor (DCT) tiers.
In addition to the 1:5 on-call requirement, the successful candidate will take on a variety of outpatient clinics & elective operating lists.
Teamwork & leadership is expected when working with our team of middle grade & junior colleagues.

Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Medical Council (including a Licence to Practice) with specialist listing in the GMC oral & maxillofacial surgery register
* BDS or equivalent
* Full Registration (with United Kingdom General Dental Council)
* FRCS (OMFS)
Experience
* Completion of an accredited training scheme leading to the award of a CCT or be within six months of CCT date
* Comprehensive knowledge in the specialty and ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems
* Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues, other specialties and support staff
