Job Title: Principal Engineer Location: Hybrid (London & Sidcup) Salary: £60,000 £68,000 Team: Infrastructure Engineering (Rail) Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role Frankham is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Rail team, with opportunities to support Maritime and Asset Management projects. This role offers technical leadership, client management, and mentorship of engineers and graduates. Youll work on station developments, bridge designs, AFA schemes, and renewals, with real opportunities for career growth. We provide a collaborative and dynamic environment where your expertise will shape major rail infrastructure projects. Our Infrastructure Engineering team has been shortlisted for industry awards, and we hold Investors in People Gold accreditation. Key Responsibilities Act as Technical Lead, ensuring high-quality project delivery. Manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities. Lead, mentor, and support engineers and graduates. Oversee design, engineering assurance, and multi-disciplinary coordination. Ensure compliance with Network Rail, Eurocodes, and British Standards. Conduct inspections, assessments, and scoping visits. Prepare fee proposals, budgets, and project plans. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety legislation. Key Requirements Chartered (ICE/IStructE) with 8 years' experience in civil/structural engineering, ideally in Rail. Experience as CRE(D) is essential. Strong knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., Tekla, MIDAS, LUSAS, S-Frame). Track record in leading projects, financial management, and client engagement. Experience with Network Rail engineering assurance processes. Excellent time management, communication, and leadership skills.
