Locum shifts available to cover our Homeopathic Pharmacy once a week (typically Wednesday) and to provide additional cover for annual leave. Job Title: Locum Pharmacist Rate: £30ph Reporting to: Superintendent Pharmacist Location: 87 Duke Street Pharmacy London, W1K 5PQ Role Description This role encompasses a variety of tasks in the Pharmacy and the main purpose is to provide cover for the Superintendent Pharmacist. Duties include overseeing pharmacy operations and dispensary and providing support and direction for the Mail Order and Pharmacy Homeopaths. The locum Pharmacist is responsible for upholding standards of practice in the Pharmacy in line with GPhC an GMP principles. Key Responsibilities/Duties Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses; Advising clients and fulfilling prescriptions. This will include: Taking prescriptions, over the phone, in the Pharmacy premises and from the clinic whilst liaising with doctors and homeopaths about prescription queries. Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines with homeopathy or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments; Ensuring tact, sensitivity and empathy when communicating with patients in distressing or emotional situations over the phone, in writing and/ or over the counter. Advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments/acute cases. Chronic cases and diseases are referred to the customer/patients own GP/homeopath or referred to the Pharmacy. Dispensing, this will include: Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labelled. Dispensing NHS and private prescriptions taken from over the phone, the clinic and over the counter. Help dispense orders for mail order and website. Oversee the safe storage of homeopathic remedies/products for the dispensary. Supervise the preparation of any medicines and authorise sale of Pharmacy medicines (“P”). To ensure all necessary administration is kept in order and compliant. This will include: Maintaining records, scanning in prescriptions. Managing and maintaining statistical data as required to provide monitoring and evaluation reports in accordance with the Client’s requirements. Submitting NHS prescriptions for the FP34C Submission Documents. Support the Pharmacy with ad-hoc work. This will include: Supporting the Pharmacy retail area. Answering phone calls from customers. Helping support the Superintendent Pharmacist with any reasonable requests. Managing, supervising and training Pharmacy Homeopaths. Promoting prescription sales and developing the business. To be innovative by developing new ways of working to meet the needs of patients and team. Requirements Demonstrated professional experience from within a pharmacy business or health related retail environment. Up-to-date Continued Professional Development (CPD) records to remain on the Pharmacy register with the GPC. Experience in managing legal and compliance requirements for a pharmacy practice. Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information while remaining sensitive to customers. Discreet and conscious of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all applicable GDPR / data protection requirements. Relevant management experience, including individual and team development. Agile and flexible in approach to work: can navigate a broad range of stakeholders and communicate well at all levels. Ability to prioritise workload, use own initiative and display strong organisational skills. Passionate about homeopathic and natural remedies, displays high level knowledge and a genuine personal interest in natural health; can act as an authentic promoter for our brands. Confident user of IT systems.
