Hours: 8.45am to 4.15pm
Salary: Full-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year) (79.34%) is from £19,093.17 to £19,797.40 per annum (FTE £24,065 to £24,940).
Specialist Learning Facilitators’ salary is from £19,431.16 to £19,938.94 per annum (FTE £24,491 to £25,131).
Part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year) (47.60%) is from £11,454.94 to £11,871.44 per annum (FTE £24,065 to £24,940). Specialist Learning Facilitators’ salary is from £11,657.72 to £11,962.36 per annum (FTE £24,491 to £25,131).
The College is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and hardworking Teaching Assistants / Learning Facilitators to join the College’s Learning Support Department. The successful applicants will be required to work with staff and students on a variety of college courses to support student learning, as well as on a one-to-one or small group basis.
The posts are available from immediately on a permanent, full or part-time, term-time only basis (39 weeks per year). The hours of work are as follows:
1. Full-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year) – 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (79.34%).
2. Part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year) – 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (47.60%), or 8.45am to 4.15pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (47.60%).
Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holders will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, including covering lessons, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The roles require an appreciation of working within an educational context supporting learning.
The post holders will be required to work with students with mild to complex learning needs. While experience in this area is desirable, a basic appreciation is essential. The posts require commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times.
You will be required to attend our 3 Open Evenings in the autumn term for which time off in lieu will be given.
For those with additional qualifications, there is a possibility of becoming a Specialist Learning Facilitator. You will undertake specialist work supporting students with SEND and EHCPs etc.
You will act as a mentor and critical friend to other Learning Facilitators, ensuring that they are able to meet the demands of their role. The Specialist Learning Facilitators are paid on a higher point on the scale.
