The staff nurse post in the children's outpatient department is an exciting post for a registered nurse with Paediatric experience to provide care to children and families attending the children outpatient department. The role encompasses a variety of clinical skills and the correct applicant will need to manage their time effectively to balance these differing skills.
Main duties of the job
* Work flexibility to support a number of multi professional teams providing quality ambulatory care for children.
* Be knowledgeable and competent in their clinical skills to undertake procedures such as venipuncture.
* Undertake pre-assessment for children having general anesthetic within a district general hospital.
* Be an effective leader and role model to those working within the children's outpatient department.
* Ensure a high standard of care is provided.
* Undertake and support children requiring a variety of vaccinations.
* Support governance in the clinical care.

Person Specification
Essential
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing Child Branch or Registered Sick Children's Nurse, or Registered General Nurse with experience working within the paediatric setting.
* Competent in venipuncture.
Desirable
* Previous experience working within the outpatient setting.
* Immunisation Competent.
