Specialist Occupational Therapist - Band 6
Full time (37.5 hours) Part time hours / job share considered
Are you ready to develop the next phase of your career and wanting to take on more responsibility? We have exciting vacancies in our band 6 OT team.
You will have excellent clinical and problem-solving skills to assess, treat, and facilitate safe and timely discharge of patients while supervising and supporting junior staff and students. Experience in a similar acute hospital environment or community setting is essential.
The post holder will participate in our rostered weekend and public holiday service working approximately one weekend a month.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertakes comprehensive/standardised Occupational Therapy assessments addressing occupational performance and skill deficits in the areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure.
2. Manages and accepts clinical responsibility for a caseload of patients, demonstrating the ability to prioritise and delegate work to assistants when appropriate.
3. Works as an autonomous Occupational Therapist, being aware of the needs of others within the team.
4. Undertakes assessments of patients' home environment and social situation to advise and implement provision of equipment and adaptations to gain maximal independence.
5. Liaises with health and social care professionals and other related statutory, private, and voluntary organisations, providing written reports, recommendations, and referrals when appropriate.

Skills and Experience
Essential
1. Experience within specific acute hospital areas
2. Experience of working as a band 5 OT
3. Relevant experience within a variety of services (e.g., ortho, med, elderly, stroke)
Desirable
1. Experience of MDT working
2. Evidence of helping support students or junior staff
Qualification
Essential
1. HCPC registration as Occupational Therapist
2. Qualified or soon to qualify with Graduate Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
Desirable
1. RCOT registered member
