KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *Shared ward rounds of the acute medicine footprint. *Assessment of new patients within the Emergency Department, AMU, MAU & SDEC unit, including post-take ward rounds. MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISORY, TEACHING, TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES *All consultants in the department are managerially accountable through the Clinical Service Leads to the CDG Medical Director, who has overall responsibility for the services within the Directorate. *The successful candidates will provide necessary educational and clinical supervision for resident doctors and other health professionals working in their team. In addition, participation in the departmental and Trust-wide teaching programmes for the relevant resident medical staff and members of the multidisciplinary teams is expected. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT *Consultants are key members of the Directorate Team and are accountable and responsible for leading changes to service that will improve the patient experience. *To contribute to the leadership and development of the services under the direction of the Clinical Service Leads and CDG Medical Director and in line with the Trust's business plans. *The Trust supports the requirements for continuing Professional Development as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and resources for these activities, including Study leave as per Trust Study Leave policy. *The Trust encourages newly appointed consultants to seek mentoring support from senior consultants within the trust or externally. *The Trust has the required arrangements in place to ensure that all doctors have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and supports doctors through the revalidation process.
