Description
The Material Handling Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the movement, storage, and distribution of materials within our production facility. This role requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of material flow processes to ensure timely and efficient production. The ideal candidate will have experience in material handling, a passion for problem-solving, and a drive to improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise staff ensuring effective scheduling, training, and performance management.
2. Manage inventory and material flow within the production facility, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of materials to production lines.
3. Coordinate with production, logistics, and procurement teams to maintain optimal material levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
4. Implement and enforce safety standards and practices in all material handling operations.
5. Monitor and analyse material handling processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to increase efficiency.
6. Maintain accurate records of material movement, inventory, and equipment usage.
7. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
8. Provide regular reports to senior management on material handling activities, including performance metrics and areas for improvement.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. Proven experience in material handling / warehousing operations, preferably in the automotive industry.
2. Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
3. Knowledge of inventory management systems and material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, conveyors, etc.).
4. Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
5. The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or similar process improvement methodologies is a plus.
8. Previous experience with SAP system or equivalent preferred.
