A leading provider of logistics and supply chain solutions is seeking an experienced Customs Manager to ensure compliance with customs regulations and drive operational excellence. Reporting to the General Manager, this role offers the opportunity to lead customs governance, optimise processes, and contribute to the growth of the company’s customs service offering. Hybrid working is available.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overseeing and managing all customs authorisations, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
* Acting as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, including HMRC, to address compliance matters.
* Providing expert guidance to clients on customs procedures, supporting them through audits and regulatory changes.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of customs legislation, ensuring the business and clients remain compliant.
* Developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
* Ensuring all customs-related procedures are documented, implemented, and audited for compliance.
* Identifying and resolving compliance challenges, proactively managing risks within operations.
* Leading internal training programmes to enhance customs knowledge across the business.
* Contributing to the growth of customs services, supporting commercial bids and consultancy offerings.
* Assisting in the commercial bid process, ensuring that customs considerations are appropriately addressed.
* Representing the company in industry workgroups and seminars to enhance market positioning.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Extensive experience in customs management, ideally within the energy, logistics, or supply chain sectors.
* In-depth knowledge of the Union Customs Code, customs regimes, and trade regulations.
* Proven experience working with HMRC and other regulatory bodies.
* Strong understanding of Incoterms and international trade procedures.
* Commercial awareness with strong negotiation and customer relationship management skills.
* Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
* Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
