Job summary An opportunity is available for a motivated, enthusiastic cancer nurse specialist to join our cancer workforce. As a secondary breast cancer CNS you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring that patients with secondary breast cancer and their families receive the highest standard of care and support from the time of diagnosis and throughout the cancer pathway. Working in partnership with The Royal Marsden our specialist cancer providers you will manage these patients across the pathways of care. We have a vacancy for a fixed term maternity leave cover for a enthusiastic, motivated and experienced secondary breast cancer nurse specialist to join our cancer CNS workforce. Depending on experience this post also offers the opportunity for a breast care nurse to develop their skills and knowledge in secondary breast cancer. Main duties of the job Main duties of the job To provide specialist oncology advice and clinical practice to patients within the outpatient and inpatient setting. Working closely with the CNS's for breast team, the consultant Oncologists and the wider cancer teams, to maintain and develop the delivery of best practice in the care and management of secondary breast cancers from referral or diagnosis onwards. Providing care and support for patients who have metastatic disease. Act as referral and liaison for the MDT and an information resource for those who are involved in the care and management of breast malignancies. To work autonomously as a specialist resource for breast oncology patients with cancer conditions, their carers and other professionals. Work collaboratively with Nurse Specialist and Consultant Medical Staff in breast-Oncology, monitoring and evaluating standards of care to meet National Guidelines. Provide care for a case load of patients Deliver HNA assessments and end of treatment summaries. Expedite patient's admission and discharge processes. Aim to prevent unnecessary admissions, working closely with AOS. Ensure a seamless efficient care pathway for the breast-oncology patient.
