Our client is currently seeking a Planning Policy Officer on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in leading and managing key projects and workstreams that support policy development within the Council's planning framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading projects and workstreams to inform and support policy development
Supporting the delivery of the Council's planning policy function
Participating in projects and workstreams, including research, writing policy, and consultation exercises
Assisting in taking projects and workstreams through milestones to external examination
Implementing and delivering policies and guidance in practice
Preparing appeal statements and appearing at hearings
Responding to enquiries from applicants, agents, and other customers regarding planning matters
Advising other departments on relevant planning issues
Job Requirements:
Experience in town planning and planning policy
Ability to effectively manage and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong research and policy writing skills
Proficiency in conducting consultation and engagement exercises
Excellent communication skills for public engagement and stakeholder involvement
Ability to navigate formal adoption processes, including preparation for Key Decisions and Examinations in Public
Understanding of the practical application of policies and guidance in planning scenarios
