Job Opportunity: Team Leader (Café-Focused Role) Do you love working with people, keeping things organised, and making sure everyone feels welcome? The Antiques Centre York is looking for a friendly and capable Team Leader to help run our centre, with a particular focus on our cosy café. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys leading by example, staying calm under pressure, and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for customers and colleagues alike. What You’ll Do As Team Leader, you’ll: Keep the café running smoothly : Oversee daily operations, ensuring food and drinks are served quickly and to a high standard. Lead by example : Support and motivate the team, making sure everyone works well together and enjoys their day. Be the go-to person : Help with customer queries and step in to solve small issues when needed. Stay organised : Manage stock levels, place café orders, and make sure everything’s where it should be. Pitch in around the centre : You’ll primarily focus on the café but may help with other areas of the centre when needed. Maintain standards : Ensure food hygiene and safety regulations are followed (don’t worry, we’ll train you if needed). General Cleaning Duties: Ensure hygiene standards are high and are maintained, not afraid to get stuck in yourself Why Join Us? Hours & Pay Hours : 9.30 am to 5:30 pm, You core days will be Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With some Flexibility for holiday cover. Pay : £12.50 P/H Ideal Start Date: End of January/ Beginning of February Requirements What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who: Has experience in a café, hospitality, or customer-facing role (some leadership experience would be great but isn’t essential). Enjoys working with people and has a natural way of making others feel at ease. Is organised, proactive, and happy to take the lead when needed. Loves working as part of a team and creating a positive work environment. Is flexible and happy to work a mix of weekdays and weekends.
