Main Duties of the Job
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Team Leader role ensuring the provision of an efficient, integrated and comprehensive administrative/support service within the Cancer Pathways Team.
The Team Leader will manage a team of cancer pathway co-ordinators and trackers being responsible for recruitment, training, appraisals and performance management.
The Cancer Pathways Team provides an administration service encompassing the facilitation of Cancer Multi-disciplinary Team meetings, and monitoring of patients on cancer pathways to ensure the best patient experience.
An ability to lead and highly developed communication skills are essential. The candidate must be organised, enthusiastic and be prepared to work with the pressure of deadlines. A previous working knowledge within an acute trust setting is essential for this role.
The successful candidate will support the Cancer Manager in implementing new initiatives across the Trust in relation to cancer pathways.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Trust Cancer Manager
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST:
* Managerial responsibility for a team of Cancer Pathway Co-ordinators and other administrative staff as appropriate. This will include the recruitment, appraisal, education and development of the post holders.
* Ensure the provision of an efficient, integrated and comprehensive Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) administrative/support service to appropriate clinical teams.
* Ensure effective tracking/monitoring of all cancer patient tracking lists (PTL), with appropriate reporting to the Cancer Manager.
* Ensure accurate cancer data collection through tracking/monitoring; using worklists to support effective patient pathways and national cancer audits.
* Act as a mediator for MDT co-ordinators in particular with clinical service and tumour site group staff to help resolve issues and problems.
* Promote and facilitate productive working relationships between MDT co-ordinators, clinical service managers, patient access managers and as required with referring Trusts.
General Responsibilities
* The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality and in particular the confidentiality of electronically stored personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
* Abide by all Statutory and Trust policies and procedures.
* Attend Mandatory training courses as indicated by the Trust policy.
* Participate in individual performance review in regular supervision sessions as agreed.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent skills/knowledge/experience.
* Experience of supervising/appraising staff.
* Experience with hospital-based IT systems.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) and Cancer MDTs practice and process.
* Experience of using cancer management database - e.g., Infoflex.
