This post offers 9 PAs: 6 PAs over 3 days in adult dermatology and 3 PAs within paediatric dermatology. Dermatology is currently undertaking a service review, and the base may be subject to change with a full consultation process.
The adult post would also have the requirement to work elsewhere as required by the Clinical Service Lead. The post offers 6 Programmed Activities (PAs) within the Glasgow and Clyde Dermatology Acute Directorate and 3 Programmed Activities within Paediatric Dermatology, Women and Children Directorate.
Adult dermatology services in Greater Glasgow are provided by the clinical directorate of dermatology, the Alan Lyell Centre for Dermatology. The Directorate works on a hub and spoke model, with some specialised and tertiary services based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the regional adult dermatology centre for approximately 1.5 million people in the West of Scotland.
Local adult dermatology services are delivered at eight hospital sites: Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Vale of Leven Hospital, and West Glasgow ACH. Each of these sites provides a range of dermatology outpatient services.
Dermatology services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of practitioners including Consultants, Specialty doctors, GP clinical assistants, and specialist dermatology nurses, working within an inpatient ward and outpatient department. The QEUH forms the hub for subspecialty clinics and is the tertiary adult inpatient unit.
The successful candidate will join the team of GGC dermatologists, whose special interests across GGC include cutaneous surgery (including Mohs surgery), skin cancer, photodermatology, contact dermatitis, severe psoriasis, teaching, genodermatoses, paediatric dermatology, connective tissue disorders, lymphoma, and hair disorders.
Applicants should have full GMC registration, a licence to practice, MRCP or equivalent, and eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training in Dermatology leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of Interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
