About the role
Reporting to our Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Alex Muir, our new Head of Adult Learning will have responsibility for overseeing all of our adult learning provision.
We currently have just over 1,000 adult learners enrolled on courses with us. As an experienced leader of adult provision, you will oversee the design and delivery of adult learning programmes in collaboration with a growing team of dedicated, successful tutors. Using your expertise, you will guide these teams to deliver high-quality provision that consistently results in higher achievement rates and improved outcomes for our learners – and employers.
As the Head of Adult Learning, you will lead our Business Development Team for Adult Learning and be responsible for sustaining the positive relationships we have with our stakeholders. Your credibility as a successful leader and your ability to build relationships will be vital as we continue to further enhance our reputation as a trusted partner across our region.
Furthermore, you will lead this team in identifying and developing new relationships with further stakeholders. These may be in existing sectors or in new and emerging industries, allowing us to demonstrate our creativity and innovation in reacting to evolving employer needs and ensuring that we continue to provide solutions to regional skills needs.
Who we are looking for
The appointed candidate will have a successful history of managing and leading within an adult learning context. You will possess a strong understanding of designing and delivering adult provision, underpinned by an unwavering focus on quality.
You will have an open and supportive leadership style and an ability to empower your team to take responsibility for their own activity, ensuring this is always in line with the wider organisational strategy and culture.
You will bring professional credibility to the role and an ability to be both learner- and customer-focused simultaneously. You will possess outstanding relationship-building skills and be able to command the trust and respect of the many stakeholders that we work with, including employers and local authorities.
Your experience in stakeholder management and your demonstrable creativity will ensure you can optimise opportunities as they emerge and help drive the wider success across our adult learning provision.
Peridot Partners and Derwentside College are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.
