Core Responsibilities
1. Supporting residents with personal care tasks such as washing, bathing, showering, dressing, and using the toilet. Ensuring that people’s rights to dignity and privacy are respected at all times.
2. Promoting health and well-being of residents encouraging a healthy diet and regular exercise and liaising with other professionals to support medical needs.
3. Helping residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence and assisting in the use of and care of aids and personal equipment.
4. Supporting service users to attend appointments with doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, and all other professionals.
5. Distributing daily menus, collecting resident’s orders, and notifying the Cook.
6. Answering call bells/alarms and assisting residents with their requests.
7. Helping in the promotion of mental and physical activities for residents through talking to them, taking them out in the community, and leading and encouraging participation in group activities.
8. Setting up dining room areas ready for mealtimes, arranging trays, serving meals, feeding residents who need assistance, preparing light meals and drinks in the evening, and washing up, tidying, and clearing the dining room.
9. Understanding how people communicate and encouraging appropriate communication. Showing respect for an individual’s age, gender, ethnic origin, religious and cultural background, encouraging choice and enabling empowerment.
10. Ensuring all documents are completed as identified within the records policy, and that these are completed to a high standard and are neat, accurate, and up to date.
11. Helping maintain a healthy and safe environment in the home and reporting all maintenance to the senior care staff on duty.
12. Following local safeguarding procedures to prevent, report and record any type of abuse.
13. Supporting the team to develop person-centred care plans, involving families and other professionals.
14. Completing in-house, face-to-face training and e-learning training and any other training identified by your manager, including attending courses at different venues.
15. Working within health and safety guidelines and participating in regular manual handling training.
16. Following company policies and procedures and acting in a professional manner at all times.
17. Maintaining a smart and professional personal appearance, upholding the standards of the home.
