You’ve probably heard of Auto Trader, but do you know what we’re all about?
We’re the UK’s leading automotive marketplace, a heritage brand, and a tech darling of the stock market. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.
In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.
At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.
Auto Trader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.
About the role
We’re looking for a Performance Manager to join our Sales & Customer Partnerships team in Manchester. The Performance Manager role focuses on empowering car retailers and manufacturers to optimize product performance, leverage data-driven insights, and drive success in the digital car marketplace through strategic collaboration and best practice sharing.
In this collaborative role, you will work closely with car retailers, manufacturers, and internal teams to champion our innovative New Car product. Your responsibilities will include driving stock and retailer volumes, proactively identifying commercial opportunities, and mitigating risks to ensure success for both our customers and Auto Trader.
With a strong foundation in product knowledge, a curious mindset, and access to our industry-leading data, you will empower retail customers and manufacturers to stay competitive in today’s digital-first marketplace.
By collaborating with car retailers and manufacturers, you’ll help optimise product performance and build engagement through sharing best practices, supporting stock listings, delivering training, and resolving challenges. You’ll simplify complex data and products, aligning them with customer goals and strategies to meet the expectations of today’s online car buyers.
Additionally, you’ll partner with internal teams, including our Account Managers and Account Directors, to share insights, provide product updates, and unlock new commercial opportunities for their customers.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about achieving customer success, mitigating risk and driving return on investment while maximising new opportunities. Think of this role as a hybrid, combining elements of an Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, and Performance Manager to drive product success.
What we're looking for
* Experience working with customers to embed products and improve engagement and performance.
* You will be confident to work with and challenge both internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience in using data to tell a story and you’ll be confident using Excel or other insight tools such as Looker.
* You will be commercially minded and will have experience achieving or exceeding team targets and KPI’s.
* You will be proactive and have a collaborative approach which allows you to spot opportunities, risks, and drive change forward.
Finally, we’re looking for someone who is curious and excited to become an expert, and drive growth of our New Car product.

You will receive 29 days holiday, plus bank holidays and comprehensive private medical cover.
We also offer employee pension contributions up to 7%, enhanced family leave provisions, a car salary sacrifice scheme, share-save options, and much more.
