BM Foods is part of the Indigo Food Group (IFG), a group of food manufacturing companies offering an extensive range of cooked meats, British and regionally sourced chicken and savoury pastry products including pies, pasties, sausage rolls, slices, quiches, and frittatas for customers in the retail and food service sectors.
The successful candidate will oversee and manage all operations within the RTE (Ready to eat) Department while working closely with the Factory Manager and Goods In Manager on raw material ordering, production planning, production, dispatching of finished goods with Transport Manager, transportation and people management.
Key accountabilities
Health & Safety:
* To take full responsibility for maintaining health and safety standards within the RTE department during shift.
* Lead by example and carry out all duties and specific responsibilities in compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Ensure both employees and contractors comply with site health and safety regulations while working in the RTE department.
* Completing accident investigations and risk assessments.
* Take corrective actions where necessary.
Quality:
* To take full responsibility for the quality of the product produced within the RTE Department during shift and management of & compliance with quality systems.
* To demonstrate particular attention to the detail of the finished goods and strive for a perfect finish of every pack.
* Ensure though the teams the condition, hygiene and microbiological standard of the RTE department is to the highest food manufacturing standard.
Customer Service:
* Working collaboratively with the Factory Manager to ensure all customers receive a service level of 100% To ensure the daily/weekly production plan is met on shift and communicate any shortages.
* To work closely with the senior management, commercial and finance teams to ensure any shortages are reported to customers in a timely manner.
People Management:
* Working closely with the HR Advisor, to be responsible for all people management activities within the RTE team including but not limited to absence management, appraisals, discipline, investigations and grievances.
* Ensure the achievement of the skills & training requirements of the team, to fulfil current and future business needs.
* To lead, coach and & motivate the team to achieve individual & departmental development while also addressing development needs.
* To facilitate the development of an open culture of pro-activity where people take pride in what they do, & feel a sense of involvement and self-worth.
* Engage with Redzone, the employee forum and employee of the month initiatives.
Team Working:
* To work collaboratively with other managers to ensure that the site as a whole meets all objectives
* Communicate clearly with other managers and meet all internal deadlines by supporting other departments when needed.
Problem Solving:
* To develop problem solving & trouble shooting skills to ensure that all team members can identify root causes & take fast & effective responses to problems.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* Proven track record as either Manufacturing Manager or Shift Manager within FMCG Manufacturing environment. Must have previous high risk/high care experience.
* Skilled in people management.
* Numerate with a clear understanding of cost drivers.
* Knowledge of and experience of best practice manufacturing.
* Knowledge of legislation governing Food Compliance, Health and Safety. BRC and retail customer audit experience would be preferable.
* Good standard of written and oral communication in English.
