N1463A - Crematorium Technician - Role Profile
Plymouth City Council's Bereavement Service has an exciting opportunity for a Crematorium Technician to join us at Plymouth Crematorium at The Park. The post holder will act as a member of a small team and contribute to the delivery of cremations, front of house duties, attending scatterings, burials and other linked services.
The individual will need to be flexible in their approach and working hours, suitably dressed and presentable in line with a Bereavement Service environment. Excellent customer service skills are key to this role when there is a need to liaise with bereaved families, visitors, and other stakeholders in a sensitive, professional, and tactful manner. The post holder must be able to communicate with empathy, sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
The Crematorium Technician Training Scheme (CTTS), Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) for Crematorium Technicians or equivalent is desirable, or you will need to undertake this qualification within 12 months. Once trained, the individual will need to ensure all aspects of the Cremation Code of Practice and all other legislative requirements are followed. This includes maintaining the identity of the deceased throughout the cremation process and keeping accurate records of cremations and identification of cremated remains.
We are a flexible employer and provide a variety of working arrangements tailored to the needs of each role.
