Are you passionate about empowering individuals through education and entrepreneurial skills? We are seeking a dedicated Business Workshop Supervisor to join our team and help transform the lives of prisoners by preparing them for successful reintegration into the community.
The role involves supporting learners in developing their knowledge and skills to successfully complete accredited training. You will work with them to transform their business ideas into structured business plans, preparing them for a Business Start-Up qualification. The focus will be on planning and developing entrepreneurial ideas, boosting employability, and reducing reoffending rates.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage prisoners within a workshop setting, coordinating their work and training.
* Promote positive behaviour and ensure safe working practices for new participants.
* Work effectively and efficiently with the Vocational Curriculum Lead to assist with innovative and stimulating workshop lessons.
* Accountability for tools and tool safety.
* Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures, such as Security, Health and Safety, and Prisoner Welfare.
* Monitor take-up of taught training and progression of learners, reporting any difficulties to your Line Manager.
* Attend team meetings to evaluate progress and promote good practice.
* Establish a rapport with prisoners to encourage them to take their first steps in learning.
* Monitor quality control of work produced by prisoners to maintain required standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Be highly organised.
* Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
* Knowledge of and commitment to best practice in equalities and diversity.
* Ability to instruct effectively.
* Commitment to developing skills and self-esteem of female prisoners.
* Interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of prisoners.
* Willingness to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
* Every employee will be required to obtain a successful security clearance and CRB check.
* Experience in a prison environment.
* Experience of instructing/supporting people with challenging behaviour.
* Experience of working with people from a range of cultural and faith backgrounds.
Package Description:
Salary up to £42,091.51 per annum - depending on experience.
