We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. As an individual contributor, you will play a key role in daily accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, reconciling accounts and assisting with month-end close procedures and audit. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting overall business operations.
Responsibilities
* Invoice Processing: Posting of purchase invoices & expense claims. Receiving and reviewing incoming invoices and expense claims from vendors, ensuring they are accurate, properly authorised, matched to purchase orders or contracts and in line with group policies.
* Vendor management: Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and handling any inquiries or discrepancies related to invoices or payments.
* Payment processing: Scheduling and processing payments to vendors within the agreed-upon payment terms.
* Bank reconciliations: Ensure daily reconciliations are accurate and up to date.
* Month-end closing: Calculating and posting prepayments & accruals and maintaining/ reconciling other control accounts.
* Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of annual budgets. Conduct monthly reviews with Cost Centre Managers, assist with preparation and submission of monthly forecasts.
* Systems Improvement/ Continuous Innovation: Proactively review and improve systems including finalising the implementation of SAP Concur (part complete), preparing training guide and roll out.
* Audit Support: Assist with the preparation of the annual audit schedules and supporting documentation.
* Tax Compliance: Preparation and submission of VAT returns, preparation of P11D’s, PSA and assisting with other tax topics of a large multinational company.
* Projects: Represent the Finance Team on new projects and initiatives (R&D claims, Government funding etc.)
Candidate Profile
* ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA part or newly qualified (1-3 years).
* Work from office at least 3 days per week.
* Flexibility around month and year end. Longer hours/ no time off around these times.
* Proactive, can take on the tasks above without too much supervision.
* Enjoys being part of a small finance team with the ability to manage multiple workloads whilst adhering to deadlines.
* Hands-On. Willing to own the Accounts Payable process.
* Good understanding of financial reporting standards (UK GAAP and US GAAP would be advantageous), tax and VAT legislation.
* Advanced Excel user.
* Preferable experience of multiple accounting/ ERP systems. (Possible SAP implementation next year).
* Excellent communicator with staff of all levels across the worldwide business.
