Ward 1 offers exciting career progression opportunity to an experienced Registered Children's Nurse who is ready for a new challenge within University Hospital's of Leicester.
The role of a Band 6 Clinical Skills Facilitator is pivotal in supporting the Team's development and building a competent and confident workforce, who are experts in their specialty.
Ward 1 is a busy Children's Cardiology Ward, caring for children and young people from 0-17 years. The Ward provides a range of care to patients and families across the East Midlands Congenital Cardiac Network within Leicester's Level 1 Pioneering East Midlands Cardiac Centre. Nursing care includes, pre and post-operative care, diagnostic investigations, level 1 and level 2 high dependency, postExtracorporealmembrane oxygenation (ECMO) care, working closely with Cardiac Paediatric Intensive Care, Children's Cardiac Outpatients Department and the Cardiac Specialist Nursing Team.
This is a welcoming and passionate specialist team who pride themselves in offering high standards of care to our patients and families.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering teaching packages, facilitating bedside teaching and clinical supervision. You will have a focus on supporting newly qualified nurses, whilst also developing experienced staff as they transition into new roles and are introduced to new clinical skills, strengthening our Level 2 care provision.
• You will be expected to work a clinical shift each week to maintain your high standard of skill and knowledge.
• You will need to be motivated, dynamic and have a passion for education within the clinical environment.
• You will be an excellent communicator who is able to quickly build key relationships. We believe that supporting our staff to grow and develop enables us to provide excellent patient care.
• You will assist with fostering this culture and play a key role in helping our staff to flourish.
• We are looking for a Registered Children’s Nurse with a keen interest in education and suitable experience in Paediatric Cardiology and High Dependency Care.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:
• Working in conjunction with the Ward Leader and Practice Education Team, support the development and education of ward staff by identifying and implementing appropriate clinical skills and development opportunities.
• Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff promoting and delivering clinical skills training practice ensuring that skills adhere to UHL Policies and procedures.
• You will be expected to work one clinical shift a week, fulfilling the responsibilities of a band 6 nurse whilst on duty.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical skills training and practice development within the Ward.
