An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join the therapy team in the new acute medical unit (AMU) at Morriston Hospital.
The service covers AMU triage, short stay zones, and same day emergency care (SDEC). We have a newly established therapy team, consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and support workers, to provide efficient and holistic assessment and therapy intervention.
A health-related NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification is essential for this post.
Previous experience of working in the NHS or hospital and MDT setting is preferable.
There will be opportunities to work alongside senior staff. Strong professional support is available in terms of in-house training, development, and mentoring for the successful candidate.
Currently, the service is delivered Mon-Fri 08:00-18:00; however, we hope to expand this to cover 7 days. The successful post-holder will be expected to participate in flexible working hours and the weekend rota once it is established.
The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:
1. Assessing less complex patients and establishing goals/intervention needs (either with or without physiotherapist/occupational therapist involvement).
2. Facilitating timely discharge. At times, the post holder may be expected to deliver small items of equipment to patients' homes.
3. Delivering physiotherapy and occupational therapy treatment programmes as part of an individualised plan of care.
4. Promoting independence by working independently or with other members of the MDT.
5. Contributing to data collection and reporting.
6. Maintaining the cleanliness of the therapy space before & after patient contact.
7. Contributing to the in-service training programme.
8. Delivering mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues.
