As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will manage the delivery of investigations to monitor the water environment around water company discharges.
Specifically, these investigations look to assess options for monitoring and making recommendations to the company for the implementation of monitoring in coastal, estuarine and inland complex locations, such as lakes and canals.
This is a two-year fixed-term contract role.
What you'll do
* be responsible for the design, delivery and reporting of the investigations to inform how we will meet our continuous water quality monitoring obligations beyond 2030
* work closely with other members of the team and the wider company to manage contractors and feed into other programmes of work, while also working with other water and sewerage companies working in this area
* be required to provide quality assurance, analyse data and report this to the Environment Agency, Natural England and wider stakeholders.
What you'll need
To be successful, you need to have proven project management experience, be able to manage projects to time cost and budget, and be capable of working independently.
A good knowledge and understanding of the tools and methods available for water quality monitoring is preferred.
* good data management, interpretation and technical report writing skills
* the ability to communicate technical information to all levels
* a good understanding of environmental issues relating to the discharge of water and water pollution
* an understanding of conservation and other environmental legislation
* experience with ArcView/GIS packages, as well as programming languages, such as R or Python (beneficial but not a requirement).
Due to the nature of the role, it is essential you have the ability to swim and hold a valid driving licence.
