Description of Job:
Role Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced finance officer who loves Jesus. This is a fast-paced hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the finances of B&A. The role will be responsible for the accounting and financial stewardship of B&A, working in collaboration with our staff team. This includes income reconciliations, expenditure, Gift Aid, restricted funds, salary processing, and monthly reporting. We are looking for someone who would thrive bringing organization, professionalism, and structure to the role that enables others and the Vision to thrive.
Responsibilities:
* Day-to-day financial processing
* Income and expenditure reconciliations
* Gift Aid reconciliation and applications
* Salary and expense processing
* Maintaining Quickbooks (Financial Software)
* Completing and recording Journals
* Keeping accurate records and evidence of process
* Maintaining supporting documentation for financial management including restricted fund trackers
* Ensuring timely payments, including to HMRC and NEST
* Providing reports and insights for the Head of Operations, Treasurer, and senior leadership team
* Collaborating with staff for budget management and understanding processes
* Ensuring Parish Accounts are ready for yearly examination and assisting the Treasurer with audits
* Coordinating with staff to ensure compliance with Standing Financial Controls
* Managing bank deposits, monthly reconciliation, and petty cash
* Attending appropriate meetings as requested
* Providing prayer and support to the church community
* Working within GDPR and Safeguarding Policies, maintaining professionalism
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
* Demonstrated commitment to the Vision of B&A
* Experience in financial management, at least to bookkeeping level
* Strong adherence to financial guidelines
* Proficient in Excel
* Bold and kind, committed to accuracy and supporting others
* Good communication skills for diverse financial understanding
* Self-starter with a desire to learn and grow
* Excellent organizational skills and time management
* High attention to detail and confidentiality
* Experience with monthly management accounts and financial reports
* Relevant academic qualifications (AAT or equivalent)
* Previous experience as a financial officer or similar
* Part of B&A’s worshipping community
* Experience with Google Sheets
* Experience with Quickbooks
* Experience with key external stakeholders (HMRC, NEST, Gift Aid)
* Experience creating and communicating context with management accounts
Contract Info:
* Permanent role
* 18.75 hours a week or 0.5 pro rata (based on a 37.5hrs week)
* Salary Banding: £25,000 to £26,450 FTE depending on experience
