Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in English for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5 students.
* Develop and implement schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum and school policies.
* Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking.
* Support students in achieving academic success by providing high-quality teaching and tailored interventions.
* Mark and assess students' work, providing constructive feedback to promote progress and attainment.
Curriculum Development:
* Contribute to the development and evaluation of the English curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
* Stay informed about changes in curriculum guidelines and examination requirements.
* Develop and share high-quality teaching resources to enhance departmental effectiveness.
Classroom Management:
* Establish high expectations for behaviour and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
* Implement school behaviour policies effectively to promote mutual respect and responsibility.
* Ensure the safety and welfare of all students within the classroom and school environment.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
* Participate in departmental meetings, staff briefings, and whole-school events as required.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of teaching strategies.
* Attend and engage in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy.
Parental Engagement:
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
* Participate in parent evenings and provide constructive feedback on student performance.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
* A degree in English or a related subject.
* Evidence of recent professional development is desirable.
