Who You Are You are a dedicated and experienced professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a highways environment, particularly with trunk road operations. With a strong educational background, ideally up to HNC/HND level in an engineering discipline, you have effective communication and leadership abilities. You can coordinate workloads efficiently, lead and motivate staff, and have a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation along with practical application. You are committed to personal development and willing to attend relevant courses, with the capacity to lead a skilled workforce and manage a wide range of responsibilities effectively. What the Job Involves This role involves the coordination of countywide trunk road operations, offering first-line management of operational maintenance teams. You will manage and develop Trunk Road operational staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and efficiency. You will develop planned programmes of scheduled works, monitor health and safety practices, investigate complaints, and manage the apprenticeship scheme within the section. The position requires undertaking procurement, engaging in project teams, participating in corporate initiatives, and deputizing for the Trunk Road Manager as needed. You must also participate in the out-of-hours rota with significant night work involved, including weekends.
