An exciting opportunity has arisen for three permanent full time (37 hrs) Senior Social Worker posts within the Adults Safeguarding Team. We are a designated team that works across the whole of the Wakefield District with Adults who are aged 18 and over, who have an appearance of need and may be subject to abuse or the risk of abuse occurring. In addition, due to their care and support needs they would be unable to protect themselves from this abuse. Our team solely carries out S42 enquiries and responds and develops safeguarding plans to meet the desired outcomes of service users and, or their representatives to improve their safety and well-being and manage risk.
We are a very supportive and friendly team with a wealth of experience.
Essential requirements:
Social Work degree (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.
Substantial experience of consolidating social work practice since qualifying.
Completion of post qualifying training such as ASYE Assessor, Practice Educator or Best Interests Assessor training.
Hold a valid driving licence to drive on behalf of the Council.

About the role
As a Senior Social Worker within the team:
You will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Human Rights Act 1998.
You will have specific responsibilities for dealing with more complex cases, including assessment, S42 Enquires and management of risk.
You will be able to demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self-determination.
You will be able to work at a senior social worker level, supporting and supervising colleagues or students within the organisation.
You will develop strong professional relationships, promoting multi-agency working and achieving positive outcomes for individuals and carers.
