First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Machinist on behalf of one of our clients.
The role involves the machining and inspection of primarily one-off, fine tolerance engineering components to meet correct standards and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches to manufacture engineering components.
2. Writing CNC machining programs on a wide range of equipment.
3. Manufacture and inspection of high-end, primarily one-off engineering components.
4. Training and mentoring of apprentices and less skilled staff.
5. Development of new machine tools and machining techniques, stemming from significant investment within the company and manufacturing facility.
6. Maintaining high standards of the work area and seeking continuous improvement using knowledge of 5S or similar strategies.
7. Managing multiple projects and support requests, often with competing demands from different teams.
8. Working across various machine platforms and equipment types, demonstrating good engineering aptitude.
9. Managing own workload and expectations in line with required timescales.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship to City and Guilds or NVQ level 3.
* Experience in a manufacturing development environment.
* Proficiency with computer applications (MS Word/Excel).
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive 'can do' attitude.
* HNC or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in a prototype environment or low-volume, high-tolerance manufacturing.
