About this Role: This is an ideal role for an accountant with roughly 3 years of post-qualification experience. To be successful in this role, you will have experience using Xero, the audit processes, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. The culture fit is key for this role in a start-up company. The role will require the individual to be flexible in their approach to meeting competing priorities, to take responsibility for managing their own workload, and to be comfortable communicating at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing and overseeing the organisation’s month-end/year-end financial processes.
* Preparing and presenting monthly accounts.
* Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are prepared on a monthly basis, all balances are correct, and differences are investigated.
* Variance and trend analysis.
* Preparing and posting key journals including accruals, prepayments, accrued and deferred income/costs, etc.
* Assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Supporting the preparation of accurate monthly and quarterly reports.
* Assisting in the year-end statutory process.
* Managing payments process.
* Addressing any other financial compliance matters.
* Overseeing the company's compliance with tax legislation and regulations, including VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE/NIC.
* Other ad hoc projects as required by CFO/Head of Finance.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Must have:
* 3 years of post-qualification experience, and a good working knowledge of UK GAAP accounting standards.
* Previous experience using the Xero accountancy software.
* Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel.
* Previous experience of the audit process, reconciliations, and statutory accounts.
Nice to have:
* Previous experience using PowerBI.
* Cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to adapt and respond to changing priorities.
