About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Research Capacity Officer to join the School of Education in a part-time capacity until 31 December 2025.
The Research Capacity Officer will provide comprehensive support for the research activities of academic staff, playing a key role in ensuring high-quality, impactful research outcomes. This includes identifying and scoping funding opportunities, preparing content for grant applications and requests for tenders, and organising and managing the School’s research repository.
The Research Capacity Officer also supports various research processes, including conducting preliminary literature reviews, assisting with the preparation of ethics applications, and helping with data management and analysis. Furthermore, the Research Capacity Officer will facilitate the preparation of publications and reports, as well as support compliant records archiving, contributing to the efficiency, integrity, and overall success of the School’s research initiatives.
This is a part-time (0.5FTE | 17.5 hours per week), fixed-term position until 31 December 2025. This position will be based at Western’s Bankstown City Campus, although travel between campuses or to other campuses of the University may be required.

Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive professional with a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree and at least five years of experience in a research setting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of research processes and academic administration, with expertise in conducting literature searches, preparing research reports, and managing ethics and funding applications.
The successful candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will also bring strong relationship and project management skills, will excel in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure effective collaboration across research teams and partner organisations to support high-quality research outcomes.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 $56,672 to $60,744 p.a. (comprising Salary of $47,888 to $51,329 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading). Please note the above salary is pro-rata based on 0.5 FTE.
