Job Title: Head of Commercial

Salary: up to £100k
We are recruiting for a Tier 1 Main Contractor who have an opportunity for you to join them as the Head of Commercial for their Gas Contract in the West Midlands.
Role Overview
The Head of Commercial will oversee all commercial aspects of this Gas contract. This role requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in commercial management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will ensure the contract's commercial success and sustainability, working closely with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement commercial strategies to ensure the financial viability and profitability of the contract.
2. Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and managing variations and claims.
3. Financial Management: Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial stability.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders, acting as the primary commercial point of contact.
5. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with the project, developing robust risk management plans.
6. Reporting: Provide regular commercial and financial reports to senior management, highlighting performance, risks, and opportunities.
7. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a commercial team of 10, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
1. Sector: The successful candidate must have experience working for a UK Main Contractor on Gas projects previously.
2. Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or similar is desirable.
3. Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience working for a UK Main Contractor as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within utilities.
4. Skills:
o Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies.
o Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
o Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
o Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
o Proficiency in commercial and project management software.
5. Attributes:
o Strategic thinker with a proactive approach.
o Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
o Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
o Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
