You would be based at University Hospital Hairmyers as part of a team of 5 dietitians.
The Role
To be an active member of the NHS Lanarkshire Acute dietetic team based at University Hospital Hairmyers. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a quality specialist dietetic service to acute in-patients and out-patients.
This will include providing a dietetic service to:
• Acute Inpatient Services
• Acute out-patient services
• Multidisciplinary meetings
• Both patient and staff education sessions.
• Service development.

What we'll need you to bring
1. Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration
2. Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
3. Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
5. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within the speciality/area of practice.
6. Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery.
7. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in the area of speciality including study days/courses/post-graduate qualification
8. The post holder will possess excellent teamwork/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
9. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Effective time management skills
11. Working knowledge of basic information technology

12. Relevant validated post-registration course
13. Member of BDA including specialist group
14. Evidence of clinical experience and continuing professional development in the delivery of therapeutic dietetics across acute ward areas
15. Experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with general areas of acute practice, ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within agreed areas of practice
16. Relevant general post-registration experience
17. Clinical experience working with chronic renal failure patients.
18. Interest and/or experience in student training
19. Experience of training other staff groups on nutrition
20. Knowledge of specialist dietetic interventions relevant to post and up-to-date knowledge of professional issues, including national clinical standards and guidelines
21. Knowledge of clinical governance and its application in clinical practice e.g. clinical audit, risk management etc.
22. Evidence of person-centred approach to dietetic practice.
23. Evidence of applying evidence based dietetic practice to improve patient care
24. Evidence of ability to work within a team multidisciplinary and uni-disciplinary
25. Positive role modelling for others
26. Ability to work flexible working hours
27. Ability to work under time pressure
Contract type
28. Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months
29. Part-Time
30. 26 hours - Additional hours may become available
31. Please note this is a part-time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
32. Please note this is a fixed-term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have a written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

This role will be based in the Dietetics Dept within University Hospital Hairmyres.
