Equans is looking for a HVAC Engineer to join our team in Hunterston, Scotland on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
Attends pre-job brief and asks questions to check understanding.
Reads and understands Work Order/Instructions/Method Statements.
Selects equipment for the job and checks that it is in good working order.
Selects appropriate materials for the job and ensures that it is in proper working order.
Reads and understands the wiring diagrams appropriate to the task.
Communicates with the client if supply is to be disconnected.
Capable of installing straight cable, conduit and tray runs.
Understands the problems of cable overcrowding.
Capable of dressing steel wire armoured cables neatly.
Understanding the bending radius of steel wired armoured cable along with the effects of "live turns" and the techniques used to avoid them.
Understand the effect of corrosion and capable of employing the techniques to prevent it, along with skills in waterproofing in a salt air environment.
Cleans and tidies work area upon completion.
Removes barriers/signs at the appropriate time.
Disposes of equipment in accordance with instructions and legislation.
Completes Work Order card indicating work completed.
Impact:
As an effective member of the Hard Services Team, you will be focused on customer care with a can-do attitude with the flexibility and adaptability to work within the team in a challenging business environment.
Complexity:
Selecting the correct tools for the task and ensuring availability of correct tools for each part of the task.
Ensures that the electricity supply is isolated prior to starting work.
Understands the principles of isolation and lock-off procedures in accordance with EDF Energy procedures.
Uses volt test meter or other suitable indicator to ensure that the electricity supply has been isolated.
Uses a methodical approach to work checking each element as it is completed.
When working with others, agrees work allocation and communication processes.
Checks work with others.
Carries out tasks in accordance with the Work Order.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Recognised Apprenticeship/NVQ Qualification
Recognised relevant City & Guilds Qualifications
