The vacancy
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join our Estates team. In this role, you will ensure the cleanliness, safety, and general housekeeping of our premises and their contents. You will work across our Stainforth community hub and main Doncaster site, maintaining high standards of maintenance and customer service. This role requires flexibility, including alternating shift patterns and occasional overtime to support college and external events.
What we're looking for:
* Must have a full driving licence, private vehicle, and business insurance.
* GCSE level Maths and English.
* Experience in an education or estates caretaker role.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Good analytical skills.
* Physically fit and able to undertake a pre-job offer physical.
* Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
* Highly focused on customer service.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
What you'll be doing:
* Ensure the premises are maintained safely and securely, and cleanliness is upheld to the highest level.
* Carry out reactive maintenance, including servicing boilers, heating plant, and maintaining water systems and air ductwork.
* Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and assist in managing specialist sub-contractors.
* Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, ensuring statutory compliance.
* Carry out statutory testing, including PAT testing, fire alarm testing, and fire door testing.
* Assist in updating asset registers of all M&E assets on site.
* Provide reports on maintenance issues and identify areas of concern.
* Manage building fabric stock, ensuring appropriate parts are available to meet SLA timescales for repair.
* Assist team colleagues in other trades as required.
* Undertake mandatory training and further training to improve knowledge and skills.
* Ensure high-quality service provision compliant with current legislation.

Let’s Teach The LET’s teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one-year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
