Our Client Overview
We are an electronics and technology SME operating in the field of aerospace, defence, and government. We specialize in the design and sale of electronic-scanning ground radar systems.
The Role
The Radar Systems Engineer will optimize the performance and characteristics of our radars. This role involves guiding implementation and defining key parameters for our RF, DSP, and software teams.
Main Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with our Senior Engineering team to develop new radar products.
* Take ownership of system design aspects of the radar, including specifying hardware architecture, RF performance characteristics, waveform design, and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms.
* Extend existing radar models to add new features and capabilities.
* Analyze radar trials data and prepare antenna calibration data for a range of radars.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A degree in Mathematics, engineering, or physics.
* Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
* Industry experience in radar system design or satellite communication system design.
* Understanding of the radar equation and its influence on radar architecture, waveform design, and signal processing methods.
* Knowledge of multi-function radar design and/or phased-array antenna design.
* Awareness of real-world radio effects such as multipath, weather, and clutter.
* Proficiency in using Matlab, Mathcad, or similar tools.
Additional Requirements
The following qualifications are desirable:
* Familiarity with microwave waveguide structures and electromagnetic simulation.
* Experience with RF Pro or Keysight SystemVue.
* Patent preparation experience.
* Active involvement in the radar industry through seminars, publications, etc.
