Role Purpose: Working within a close-knit team that are at the forefront of Wildanet’s transition into an established Internet Service Provider, enabling Wildanet’s ambitious plans to remove the digital divide and deliver digital connectivity to all through the large scale Wildanet network roll out and working directly with Wildanet Technical Design Authority to plan, deploy and operate Core Network assets and supporting systems. Main Responsibilities: Taking a DevOps first approach, you will be involved in ongoing deployments and continuous improvement works to increase Wildanet’s capacity as we grow our subscriber base. You will be heavily involved in the software & hardware lifecycles for Core Network managed devices, including vulnerability management and patching. You will need to be comfortable with using Automation techniques to enable the above activities. You will assist in the day-to-day activities but not limited to pro-active and reactive fault resolution and getting involved in Projects involving different teams within Wildanet. Key Activities: While duties and responsibilities will vary, they typically include: Working closely with the Technical Design Authority to ensure alignment on network design, deployment strategies, and operational procedures. Leading or contributing to the planning and deployment of core network infrastructure, ensuring that all assets are implemented according to project timelines and technical specifications. Developing and maintaining automation scripts to streamline deployment processes, configuration management, and routine network operations tasks. Overseeing the full lifecycle management of network devices, including software upgrades, hardware refreshes, and decommissioning, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Performing regular vulnerability assessments and implement necessary patches and updates to safeguard the network against security threats. Identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance, reliability, and capacity as subscriber numbers grow. Engaging in proactive monitoring and reactive troubleshooting to resolve network faults, minimizing downtime and maintaining high service levels. Participating in cross-functional projects, working alongside different teams within Wildanet to support the successful delivery of business-critical initiatives. Conducting capacity planning exercises to anticipate network growth, ensuring that the core network infrastructure scales effectively to meet increasing demand. Measures of Performance: Project Delivery: Ensuring milestones are met as planned. Quality and effectiveness of deployed network solutions. FTR / RFT Automation Implementation: Reduction in manual interventions as a result of successful automation implementation. Post-Implementation Support and Stability: Measure of network stability and performance in the period immediately following project completion. Number of issues or incidents reported post-deployment and the time taken to resolve them. Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Completeness and accuracy of project documentation delivered upon project closure. Effectiveness of knowledge transfer to operational teams, measured by the number of follow-up queries or incidents post-handover. Ongoing Skills & Training: Demonstrating an aptitude for improving technical skills, particularly in areas such as automation, network security, and DevOps practices. Mentoring junior team members and sharing knowledge gained through ongoing development efforts. Essential Person Specification: Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Network operating systems. Strong knowledge of Automation. Programming and scripting skills. Knowledge of ISP connectivity types such as FTTP. Working with APIs to integrate systems (desirable). Implementation of ToS / CoS (desirable). 5G connectivity (desirable). FWA connectivity (desirable). Skills/Attributes: Juniper JunOS Cisco iOS FortiOS BGP OSPF / ISIS IPv6 Linux (Ubuntu / Redhat etc) Windows Python (desirable). Ansible (desirable). EVPN (desirable). Experience: 5 years minimum in a networking environment. Experience working in a customer facing environment. Experience within an ISP network (desirable). Experience within a WISP environment (desirable). Qualifications: CCNP / JNCIP certified or demonstratable skills. Recent vendor training and exams undertaken and gained within the last 3 years. Circumstances: Based within under an hour travel of Liskeard Office. Hold a full driving license. Able to participate in 24 hours on call ROTA. Perform out-of-hours maintenances as required. Own means of transport to/from office.
