Heathfield (Horsham) are seeking a confident, caring Housekeeper to join the team.
The role is head of the Domestic Team and requires some cleaning experience, running a small team of Domestic staff and have a confident approach to the role, including interaction with our residents on a daily basis.
Working hours of Monday to Friday 7.00am - 2.00pm.
Overall Objective of Role
To ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of Heathfield, thereby contributing to the quality of care and lifestyle afforded to each Resident by maintaining high standards of appearance, cleanliness and a friendly and helpful attitude. To effectively run the Domestic Team, ensuring high levels of cleaning and infection control are adhered to.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. To clean all allocated rooms and fittings including furniture, fabrics, carpets and equipment. The allocated rooms include the Entrance Hallway, Care Manager’s (Front) office, Pantry & Front Entrance (external).
2. To keep the pantry clean, tidy, dry and hygienic, washing the floor, cleaning work surfaces, cupboards & emptying the rubbish bin.
3. To help clear away and wash up breakfast utensils, including washing of trays, cloths and associated items.
4. To operate the dishwasher correctly and to keep it clean at all times, including descaling as required
5. To prepare tea, coffee, fruit juices and water, etc. and to serve these to Residents and visitors to Heathfield, either in the Lounge or Resident’s rooms and clearing away afterwards.
6. Setting the tables in the dining room in advance of lunch, ensuring that the tables and table mats are clean & well presented
7. To wash-up after lunch and ensure that the Pantry is left clean and in a hygienic condition.
8. Throughout, to comply with Heathfield’s rules and guidelines on health and safety topics, especially manual handling, hygiene control and infestations, together with the safe use of hazardous substances (COSHH statements).
9. To carry out daily hand over with the Domestic team, ensuring important information is given before the shifts start. Allocating tasks and carrying out weekly audits of allocated rooms.
10. To carry out weekly stock control checks and ordering of housekeeping supplies
11. To answer the main door and the telephone and to greet visitors to Heathfield. To take telephone messages and connect calls as appropriate.
12. To report the malfunction of any equipment in need of maintenance or that cannot be kept clean through normal cleaning procedures
13. To control the Domestic Rota in order to ensure that cover is provided for holidays and sickness, advising the Care Manager of any shortfalls.
14. To sanitise around the home, using an antibacterial spray. Areas to include all door handles, hand rails and frequently touched surfaces in the communal areas, front office, front entrance
