We have an exciting opportunity for a paediatric registered nurse who has experience/interest in long-term conditions to join the children's epilepsy team. The focus of this role will be to act as the named Lead nurse as part of the dynamic and supportive Epilepsy Multidisciplinary Team.
Main duties of the job
* To act as the named Lead nurse as part of the Epilepsy Multidisciplinary Team.
* To support the Clinical Manager in the daily operational management and leadership of the Children’s Epilepsy Service ensuring the delivery of high-quality health care, education, and support to children and families within the home, school, and in various community settings.
* To initiate and co-ordinate appropriate services in order to facilitate the early discharge and manage children and young people newly diagnosed with Epilepsy at home.
* To liaise directly with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies to facilitate seamless high-quality Epilepsy care to the child and family at home and clinic.
* To work as a member of the Children’s Epilepsy multi-disciplinary Team, providing a holistic and developmental approach to Epilepsy from infancy through to adolescence.
* To work in conjunction with the Clinical Manager, nursing staff, paediatricians, service users, and the Directorate and Divisional senior management teams, the post holder will co-ordinate, prioritise, appropriately delegate, and organise the safe and effective running of services.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* Registered children’s Nurse
* Specialist Practitioner at Degree level or equivalent experience
* Pet 1 qualification epilepsy certificate or other equivalent course
* Independent non-medical prescriber
* Recognised teaching and assessing certificate
* APLS
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Previous experience of caring for children with epilepsy
* Experience of working in the community with children including children with complex health needs
* Experience of working with multi-agency teams
* Excellent awareness of current issues and developments in the NHS and how this relates to service delivery
* Good knowledge of working across agencies in a community setting
* Competent in dealing with children, young people, and their families' diagnosis, treatment, and psychological adjustment to illness
* Experience of working with children with medical needs and their families
* Able to plan and organise teaching sessions for staff members
* Comprehensive level of clinical competency
* Evidence of previous project management

* To be able to work autonomously and independently
