Job Description Trade Compliance Officer Overall Responsibility To ensure the timely and accurate processing of all Supplementary Declarations (SDs) received by Client, ensuring the company is in full compliance with HMRC requirements. Responsibilities Responsibilities include the following: Daily download of all SDs from TSS portal to internal system. Verify the integrity of data issued by suppliers and correct any errors or omissions. Apply the correct procedures to enable the correct processing of all transactions to HMRC. Calculate the correct levels of duty required for all inbound materials. Report daily on progress and any issues in closing off transactions. Collate all required documentation required to fulfil audit requirements. Work closely with suppliers to ensure the smooth flow of work. Feedback of issues to the Trader Support Service as and when required. Run reports to confirm the accuracy of closed transactions. Key Attributes The individual needs to be: Highly organised and be able to manage large quantities of data to a deadline. Able to communicate effectively via telephone and e-mail and be able to quickly articulate their specific needs in relation to the issue at hand. Persistent but polite while closing our daily issues. At ease communicating with suppliers and customs representatives. Demonstrate the ability to follow a process to ensure accuracy. Essential Experience The candidate must: Have experience working in an office environment to strict deadlines. The candidate must be able to use Microsoft Office packages – specifically Outlook and Excel. Desirable Experience It would be highly desirable if the candidate: Has a knowledge of Brexit trading arrangements in NI. Have used the TSS portal. Has a knowledge of the use of HS codes, rules of origin and the UK / NI Tariff system.
