To support the Head Mechanic in the upkeep of the machinery fleet and road vehicles of the greenkeeping department, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards. To ensure the workshop is kept clean and tidy and to take a supporting role in the running of the wider greenkeeping department, supporting the greenkeeping team when necessary, delivering the highest standards on a daily basis.
Key Areas of Activity:
1. Ensuring the fleet of machinery is kept clean and tidy
2. Service the fleet of machines as per manufacturer guidelines
3. Ensure faults and breakdowns are properly reported
4. Supporting the operators in their pre-start checks
5. Mechanical troubleshooting on course
6. Regular quality of cut check on course
7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and awareness of current golf course machinery and technologies available to the UK market
8. Maintaining full working knowledge of all SOP’s and update when required
9. Ensuring you attend and participate in all training sessions required of your role including company and technical training
10. Monitoring and maintaining health and safety, and security in the workplace at all times
11. Maintain awareness and understanding of the rules of golf relating to golf course maintenance and course set-up
12. Communicating effectively and encouraging good communication to management and the rest of the team
13. Interest in mechanics: To be able to show evidence of interest in mechanical engineering
14. Interest in golf: to play golf, or show an understanding of the game of golf
15. Professional development: to have the desire to learn both practically and academically
