The team delivers research, training, consultancy and specialist advice across a diverse portfolio of topics including; Process Safety, Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH), Computational Fluid Dynamic modelling, High Risk Building Safety, and emerging risks associated with UK Space Launch, Carbon Capture, alternative fuels (ie; Hydrogen and Fusion) and uses of artificial intelligence in risk management. As a line manager your role will focus on providing pastoral line management support for the team working in collaboration with, and supported by, an established operations manager already in place within the team. You will have overall responsibility for overseeing performance, attendance, development, and wellbeing of your direct reports. You will need to engage with Project managers, commercial managers, and operational teams to ensure that projects are properly resourced and appropriately scheduled. You will be based in Science Division at our Science and Research Centre in Buxton, Derbyshire. Managing the allocation of resources to the teams portfolio of projects; ensuring that individuals have an appropriate workload and access to the appropriate resources to deliver their work. Setting clear work, and development, objectives and assessing performance against these, seeking feedback from others as needed. Understanding and implementing HSE line management policy and procedures (seeking support as needed from the HR business partner based in SD Buxton, or others line managers in the team), and keeping up to date with changes. Person specification Essential Skills and Criteria Have significant experience of leading and managing teams, preferably within a highly technical or specialised setting. Be skilled at managing and prioritising resources across a variety of projects. Be confident at monitoring, analysing and reporting on a range of project and management information. Have strong interpersonal skills enabling you to bring out the best performance in individuals. Be confident communicating and influencing both on an individual one-to-one basis and to teams.
